Heated glass is also known as anti-fog glass, defogging glass, or electrically heated glass. Electrically heated glass is a specialized type of glass that heats up when an electric current is applied to remove fog and frost. As a result, electrically heated glass is widely used in display cases, showcases, freezers and refrigerators, cold storage facilities, environmental test chambers, constant temperature and humidity chambers, high-low temperature shock chambers, luxury villas, aircraft windows, high-end automobiles, and doors and windows in cold regions.
The typical construction of electrically heated glass involves bonding two or more sheets of tempered glass together using PVB or a specialized adhesive film. Ultra-fine metal heating wires, such as tungsten or constantan, are embedded on one side of the interlayer film within the laminated glass, or a transparent conductive film is applied to the inner surface of the glass, causing the glass to heat up when an electric current is applied. The glass itself functions as a thermistor; when connected to a temperature control system, the surface temperature of the glass can be automatically regulated and controlled, providing a certain level of impact resistance and safety. The surface temperature of the glass can reach up to 40°C. Light transmittance is generally 80%.
Performance Characteristics (Advantages) of Electrically Heated Glass:
1. Excellent defrosting and anti-fogging capabilities: When electrically heated glass is energized, its surface temperature rises (typically to 35–40°C), preventing frost and condensation from forming on the glass surface. Additionally, the voltage is safe and poses no harm to humans.
2. Excellent optical performance: Electric heating glass uses conductive wires or conductive films as the heating medium, ensuring excellent light transmission and distortion-free viewing, allowing for clear and true-to-life visibility through the glass.
3. High safety: The laminated glass used in electrically heated glass consists of tempered glass, which has high hardness and is resistant to breakage. Even if subjected to a heavy impact, the glass fragments are held together by an organic adhesive layer, preventing them from scattering and causing injury.
4. UV Protection: Used in high-end automobiles, electrically heated glass has a high UV absorption capacity, effectively blocking UV rays from entering the interior and reducing the harm caused by UV radiation to the driver and interior components.
